Traditional American History Program Greencastle Antrim School District, Greencastle, Pennsylvania New Media Classroom: Narrative, Inquiry, and Technology in the U.S. History Survey ASHP/CML will offer a four-day summer institute to middle and high school social studies/American history and humanities teachers in the Greencastle Antrim School District. If you are an educator working in a middle school or high school in Greencastle, PA, you are eligible to participate in the yearlong program. The Institute provides an introduction to ASHP/CML content and methodology -- American history scholarship, interdisciplinary teaching, inquiry learning, and the use of new media technology. Working with ASHP/CML's award winning curriculum resources, participants will explore ways of implementing recent scholarship in American history and innovative teaching strategies into their classrooms. Teachers will take part in hands-on activities which address development of students' skills in reading, writing, critical thinking, and technology integration. Institute workshops will be facilitated by ASHP/CML educators and scholars. Guidelines for Participants: We encourage middle and high school teachers of social studies/American history, interdisciplinary humanities, ESL, and special education to particpate. Humanities administrators and technology coordinators are also welcome. Educators must committ to attending the entire four-day institute. Schedule and Location: Monday June 18-Friday June 24 2007. Location TBA. See the proposed agenda for a closer look at the schedule of activities and workshops. ASHP/CML Curriculum Resources: Participants will receive a collection of classroom lessons, primary documents and other select curriculum materials published by ASHP/CML.
